The Weight Loss Story

Alright! So here it is, this is everything you need to know about me, Cait 🙂

I have the typical weight gain story. I progressively gained weight from my teen years and finally reached my highest weight after my freshmen year of college. When I came home after my exams I joined Weight Watchers with my mother in early May 2009. My weight when I joined was 201.6. Long story short I battled through the war of weight loss and came out alive! I reached my goal weight of 134lbs on November 11th, 2010. With a total loss of 67.6lbs!!!

This is probably my favorite picture. It not only shows how much I’ve lost but I truly look 100 times happier. The picture on the left was taken July 2009 and the picture on the left was taken September 2010. I’m not at goal weight on the right but I still look one of the happiest I ever have seen myself.

I have been to three colleges in the past three years. I am actually STAYING at this one for the rest of my junior year and senior year. I am currently on the soccer team here. Complete 360 of my life from Freshmen year.

One of the ways to kick start my weight loss was exercising. I have always played sports. I was a 3 sport athlete in high school and played soccer my first year in college. I took a break when I decided to transfer and when I started Weight Watchers. I started going to the gym 5 to 6 times a week and using the elliptical and then I slowly picked up running. By January 2010 I was starting to run 3 to 4 times a week for about 30-40 minutes at a time. Fast forward to May, I started running 6 days a week and began counting weekly miles rather than time or how many I run in a particular day.

I am now obsessed with running. I run every day unless my body is telling me not to. I want to get into spinning classes and bodypump but at my school we don’t have those kinds of classes, and back home my gym doesn’t either. I might invest in a new gym this next summer 🙂

 

I have had a tumblr (skinnyforme.tumblr.com) for pretty much the second half of my weight loss journey. It keeps me motivated and a great place to let out how I feel. However, this being said right now in my life I realized I was getting too caught up with the other peoples journeys and not giving myself enough credit for what I am doing. Hence why I am starting this. This blog is for me and for me to complete and challenge myself.

  2. You look amazing!!! I am new to running and just saw that you ran your first 5k…I have mine on March 5th…for St.Patty’s Day! I am working on getting through the mental part of it and plan to do a 10k or half marathon in September in Frankfurt…moving to Germany in April!!! I think you are doing amazing things with that body you have worked so hard for….truly inspiring!!

    • Thank you so much! That is so exciting! You will rock the 5k! The energy at the start is amazing! And moving to Germany???!! Holy cow- jealllousss! Keep kicking ass with training running is so beyond fun!

    That’s amazing! Such an incredible change! I applaud you, lol.

    I can’t wait to work my up to running a marathon…I just need to figure out how to properly train for one. So much information out there!

    • Oh my gosh I know the internet is a GREAT place to find info out on it! I recommend the runnersworld.com forums and their articles. VERY helpful for sure!! (and of course bloggers know a lot tooo! there are a TON out there!)

  8. Cait, I’m glad I found your site! I adore the way you write, and we also have some shared things in our “about mes” — I also have lost weight (120lbs so far) through WW, and have discovered how flipping awesome running is. And I live in Boston. And recently watched the marathon (not to self-advertise, but I did a photo-based post on in earlier this week). And definitely agree that you ought to qualify for & run it 🙂

    Anyway, just wanted to say “Hi” so that I feel less creepy poking around your blog!
